Airbnb Joins FIFA as Official Accommodation Partner for 2025–2027 Tournaments

June 12, 2025 – Airbnb has announced a major three-year global partnership with FIFA, covering the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™, FIFA World Cup 26™, and FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™. As part of the agreement, Airbnb will serve as the Official Alternative Accommodations and Experiences Booking Platform, offering fans a unique way to travel while contributing to local economies in each host city.

The collaboration is expected to support over 380,000 guest stays for the 2026 tournament alone, with an estimated $3.6 billion economic impact across the 16 Host Cities. Additionally, Airbnb has committed $5 million to launch a Host City Impact Program aimed at supporting local initiatives tied to the events.

Partnership Highlights: Travel, Culture, and Global Football

Through this multi-tournament partnership, Airbnb will become the official accommodation partner for fans attending FIFA’s most prestigious events. Guests can explore thousands of unique stays and participate in curated Airbnb Experiences that spotlight local culture, cuisine, and football history—blending sport and tourism like never before.

Among the first experiences launched is a private goalkeeping session with U.S. football legend Tim Howard, along with match-day events hosted by former national team stars like Cobi Jones. These experiences will debut during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™, which kicks off June 14 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Quote from Airbnb Co-Founder Brian Chesky

“The World Cup unites people across borders, and so does Airbnb,” said Brian Chesky, Airbnb Co-Founder and CEO. “Through this partnership, we’re not just offering a place to stay—we’re creating moments that bring fans and communities closer together, while also driving real economic impact for the cities that host these iconic tournaments.”

FIFA President: A New Era for Global Football Travel

Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA, commented on the collaboration: “We are thrilled to welcome Airbnb as a supporter of these historic events. From the expanded FIFA World Cup with 48 teams to the first Women’s World Cup held in South America, this partnership allows fans to travel and experience football like never before. Airbnb is a key player in helping us deliver these moments.”

Local Experiences Go Beyond the Match

In addition to match attendance, fans will be able to participate in hundreds of locally hosted experiences—including food tours, cultural workshops, and football-themed events—created through Airbnb’s Experiences platform. The initiative aims to deepen the fan connection with each host city and stimulate economic activity in non-touristy neighborhoods often overlooked by major events.

Tim Howard, former U.S. national team goalkeeper, emphasized the immersive nature of the program: “Hosting an Airbnb experience is more than a meet-and-greet—it’s a chance for fans to engage directly with the sport, the culture, and the community. These moments make the tournament unforgettable.”

Airbnb’s Economic Footprint at the FIFA World Cup 26

According to a report from Deloitte, Airbnb guest stays during the FIFA World Cup 26™ are projected to generate $3.6 billion in local economic activity. This includes direct earnings for hosts—estimated at $210 million across all host cities—and ripple effects such as increased spending at local restaurants, shops, and transit services. In total, Airbnb’s activities are expected to support the equivalent of nearly 34,000 full-time jobs during the tournament year.

Sébastien Long, an Airbnb host in Houston, highlighted the community benefit: “The FIFA World Cup gives us a chance to show the world what Houston has to offer—from our food scene to our hospitality. It’s not just about hosting guests; it’s about sharing our identity and making a lasting impact on our neighborhoods.”

Launching the $5 Million Host City Impact Program

Airbnb is also introducing a dedicated $5 million Host City Impact Program, aimed at funding local projects in coordination with FIFA World Cup 26 host cities. These initiatives may include urban development, tourism support, sustainability efforts, and community-based hospitality training—all designed to leave a positive legacy beyond the final whistle.
