Official formal wear partner
Leagues and Tournaments:
In November 2022, FC Barcelona and the renowned Italian fashion brand, Herno, signed a significant partnership deal that has transformed the formal wear standards for the club’s men’s and women’s football teams and basketball squad. This collaboration, running through the 2024/25 season, makes Herno the official formal wear partner for the club’s professional sports teams during their travels for European competitions and major finals.
This partnership is founded on shared values of excellence, ambition, and teamwork—traits that both FC Barcelona and Herno hold dear. FC Barcelona, rooted deeply in Catalonia and its traditions, aligns perfectly with Herno’s commitment to its heritage in the small town of Lesa, located by Lake Maggiore. Founded in 1948, Herno’s name comes from the nearby river and reflects the brand’s close connection with its Italian roots. Over the years, Herno has earned global recognition for its stylish and functional outerwear, evolving from raincoats in the ’40s to becoming a hallmark of urban outerwear.
The partnership marks the first time in FC Barcelona’s history that all three professional sports teams—the men’s and women’s football teams and the basketball team—have shared the same formal wear partner. As of January 2023, these teams began wearing Herno’s stylish and sustainable designs on their travels.
Herno is not just about fashion; the brand has made significant strides in sustainability and technological innovation. Under the leadership of Claudio Marenzi, the second generation of Herno’s family, the company has focused on research, technology, and design innovation. Marenzi has led Herno’s international expansion while ensuring that sustainability remains a core value of the brand.
The official launch of the Herno-designed outfits for FC Barcelona’s squads took place in January 2023 during the prestigious Pitti Immagine Uomo event in Florence, Italy. FC Barcelona representatives, including club secretary Josep Cubells and former captain Carles Puyol, joined Herno’s president, Claudio Marenzi, to unveil the new formal wear. The launch coincided with the teams’ travels for key international games, showcasing the new outfits in real-world settings.
