Kit supplier
On January 7, 2020, Liverpool FC confirmed its long-term partnership with Nike, one of the world’s leading sportswear brands, as the club’s official kit supplier. The agreement, which began on June 1, 2020, marked a significant shift in Liverpool’s commercial strategy, aligning the club with one of the most influential names in sports apparel.

Under the terms of the multi-year deal, Nike provided kits for Liverpool FC’s men’s, women’s, and Academy teams, as well as outfitting coaching staff and the Liverpool FC Foundation. Beyond the club’s matchwear, Nike also supplied training and travel gear, reinforcing its presence across all levels of the club.
The deal coincided with Liverpool’s move to a state-of-the-art training facility in Kirkby, further integrating the club’s modernization efforts with Nike’s global sports innovation.
Nike’s arrival as Liverpool’s official kit supplier ended a five-year partnership with New Balance, which had been the club’s kit manufacturer since 2015. The transition was not without controversy.
New Balance, which had a clause allowing it to match any competitor’s offer, took Liverpool FC to court in an attempt to extend the agreement. However, the High Court ruled in favor of Liverpool, allowing the club to move forward with Nike. The decision was based on Nike’s global marketing reach and its ability to provide superior brand exposure through partnerships with high-profile athletes, social media influencers, and its extensive retail network.
The Nike deal, while offering a lower fixed annual payment than New Balance’s offer, included substantial revenue-sharing incentives. This structure allowed Liverpool FC to benefit from Nike’s extensive global distribution network, potentially making it one of the most lucrative kit deals in football history.
Nike’s partnership with Liverpool was seen as a strategic move to expand the club’s brand globally, particularly in key markets such as North America, China, and Southeast Asia.

Global marketing campaigns:
In April 2024, media reports emerged suggesting that Liverpool FC will change its official kit supplier after the 2024/2025 season. The 2025/2026 season will mark the start of a new partnership, with a new manufacturer set to take over for the 2025-2030 cycle.
While Nike’s tenure at Liverpool has been commercially successful, the club appears to be exploring a fresh direction for its kit supply. Speculation suggests that Adidas and Puma are among the potential candidates for the next deal, with Liverpool aiming to secure an agreement that maximizes both financial returns and global brand reach.
