April 7, 2014 marked the beginning of a significant partnership between Nissan and UEFA, with the Japanese automotive giant signing on as an Official Partner of the UEFA Champions League for the 2014/15 to 2017/18 seasons. This agreement also extended Nissan’s presence to the UEFA Super Cup during this period, solidifying its association with Europe’s top club football competitions.
Under this initial deal, Nissan gained exclusive rights to leverage its products and services across all UEFA Champions League-related events. This partnership was seen as a strategic move to enhance Nissan’s brand visibility across Europe and beyond, leveraging the global popularity of the UEFA Champions League.
On September 11, 2017, UEFA announced the extension of its sponsorship deal with Nissan for an additional cycle, covering the 2018-2021 seasons. The renewed agreement also included sponsorship of the UEFA Super Cup for the 2018, 2019, and 2020 editions, reaffirming Nissan’s ongoing commitment to European football.
Since becoming a partner in 2014, Nissan has actively utilized its UEFA Champions League rights to engage fans across various markets. A key feature of the extended agreement was the UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour, which provided fans across Europe with the opportunity to see the iconic trophy up close.
Nissan also expanded its ‘Goal of the Week’ digital promotion, where fans could vote for their favorite goals each match week, with the chance to win exclusive Champions League prizes. In addition, Nissan continued to supply vehicles to UEFA throughout the season, ensuring top-tier transportation services for guests and officials at major UEFA events.
