Leagues and Tournaments:
On November 24, 2021, the Premier League and Castrol announced a new partnership, set to begin in January 2022. Building on its successful history of football sponsorships, including the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championships, Castrol became an official sponsor of the Premier League. This collaboration aimed to engage football fans globally, particularly in key markets such as China, the ASEAN countries, the Middle East, and Europe.
As part of the agreement, Castrol took over the sponsorship of the prestigious Premier League Golden Awards. These awards, including the Golden Boot, Playmaker Award, and Golden Glove, have become synonymous with excellence in the league. Castrol also introduced new awards to enhance the existing honours, offering additional recognition to standout performances each season.
In one notable activation, Castrol sponsored the “Game Changer of the Season” award, which highlights players who have made decisive impacts in matches. Additionally, the “Save of the Season” award celebrated the most memorable goalkeeper performances. Fans had the opportunity to cast their votes on these awards, influencing the recognition of players and key moments throughout the season.
For example, the “Game Changer of the Season” was awarded to a player who had significantly altered the course of a game or season. “Save of the Season” saw remarkable goalkeeper performances, with winners like David De Gea in 2022 and Alisson Becker in 2023 recognized for their incredible saves.
Through this partnership, Castrol aimed to raise awareness of its range of high-performance lubricants, including products designed for electric vehicles (EVs), an area of growing importance within the automotive industry. Castrol’s products for industrial, marine, and energy sectors were also highlighted, showcasing the company’s commitment to innovation across various industries.
Castrol’s partnership with the Premier League concluded at the end of the 2023/2024 season.
