Qatar Airways & FIFA: A Landmark Partnership

Qatar Airways has been a proud partner of FIFA since 2017, playing a significant role in shaping some of the most iconic football tournaments in history. One of the standout moments of this partnership was the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which marked the first time the tournament was held in the Middle East. Qatar Airways, as the Official Airline of the Journey, brought the world together through its exceptional hospitality and global connectivity, delivering an unforgettable experience for millions of football fans around the globe.

As part of their commitment to enhancing the fan experience, Qatar Airways introduced exclusive fan travel packages for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. These comprehensive packages offered official match tickets, round-trip flights, and accommodation, covering every stage of the tournament.

Uniting the World Through Football

During the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Qatar Airways facilitated 14,000 flights, including 58 charter flights and 263 shuttle flights, carrying over 1.4 million fans to the 64 matches across the tournament. To celebrate this monumental event, the airline also unveiled 120 FIFA-branded aircraft, including Boeing B777s, B787 Dreamliners, Airbus A320s, and Airbus A380s.

Qatar Airways saw an incredible surge in social media engagement, with a more than 83% increase in followers during the tournament. The airline executed global FIFA activations across 19 cities, reaching over 20 million fans through digital channels, solidifying its connection with football fans worldwide.

Renewal of the Partnership

On November 22, 2023, Qatar Airways and FIFA announced the renewal of their partnership, extending the agreement until 2030. This strategic collaboration will see Qatar Airways continue as the Global Airline Partner for significant FIFA events, including the FIFA World Cup 2026, FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027, FIFA World Cup 2030, and various youth tournaments such as the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia.
