In September 2022, FC Barcelona entered into a unique partnership with VeganNation, an international eco-community focused on promoting sustainable lifestyles and environmental responsibility. This partnership, lasting for three seasons until June 2025, marks a significant step for the club in supporting socially impactful initiatives beyond sports. VeganNation becomes Barcelona’s Global Partner in the Sustainability sector, joining forces to raise awareness about sustainability among the club’s vast global fanbase.

Founded in 2017, VeganNation is an innovative global community that brings together individuals and organizations dedicated to sustainability and ethical consumption. With a unique mobile app, VeganNation connects people worldwide who are committed to reducing their environmental footprint and promoting plant-based living. The community even has its own cryptocurrency, GreenCoin, and a platform for trading vegan goods and services. With over 100,000 users, the platform has grown rapidly, offering a broad range of services to its members while also working with athletes, influencers, and sports organizations to further their message.
Since the partnership was announced, FC Barcelona and VeganNation have worked closely on content aimed at promoting environmental values. The club’s social media channels featured videos about waste sorting at Camp Nou, reducing plastic waste, and sponsored content from VeganNation highlighting sustainable practices. Furthermore, VeganNation gained association rights with both the men’s and women’s teams and hospitality packages, allowing them to invite guests to games and hold meetings with players on the importance of sustainability.
As part of the collaboration, VeganNation hosted fan contests, encouraging supporters to share their “green” initiatives, with winners getting the chance to attend a match and participate in eco-friendly actions on behalf of the club. In January 2023, VeganNation, together with the FC Barcelona Foundation, launched a program in Latin America aimed at combating youth violence through football and sustainable practices—blending social and environmental missions.
The partnership with VeganNation also influenced internal changes within the club. FC Barcelona began implementing more sustainable practices, such as switching to biodegradable plates at the stadium and introducing vegan options in the players’ meals. Many of these efforts were communicated with the support of VeganNation, reflecting the club’s commitment to reducing its ecological footprint.
