Description:

Yokohama Tires and Chelsea FC: A Powerful Partnership

In July 2015, Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., the parent company of Yokohama Tire Corporation (YTC), formed a high-profile partnership with Chelsea Football Club, one of the most prestigious teams in the English Premier League. This collaboration marked Yokohama’s debut as Chelsea’s official shirt sponsor, with the YOKOHAMA TYRES logo emblazoned across the team’s jerseys.

The first season of this partnership began with the 2015-2016 campaign, and the new home kit, which prominently featured Yokohama’s logo, was unveiled during Chelsea’s pre-season match against the New York Red Bulls in the U.S. on July 22, 2015. The jersey design stayed true to Chelsea’s traditional colors, incorporating white and red trims and vertical pinstripes that paid homage to the club’s rich history.

Official Global Tyre Partnership: A New Era for Yokohama and Chelsea FC

In January 2020, Yokohama renewed its commitment to Chelsea FC with a multi-year Official Global Tyre Partnership agreement, which came into effect in July 2020 after the expiration of the previous shirt partnership. This new agreement enabled Yokohama to continue utilizing Chelsea FC in its tire sales promotions, further increasing brand awareness in Europe and Asia. It also allowed Yokohama to deepen its involvement in global markets through events and player appearances, ensuring continued visibility and engagement with Chelsea fans.

Chelsea FC’s Global Impact and Yokohama’s Role

Yokohama’s involvement with Chelsea FC provided a unique opportunity to leverage the team’s extensive international audience and global fanbase. By featuring Chelsea players and managers in marketing materials, as well as engaging in special events, Yokohama effectively enhanced its presence in key markets, including the MENA region, Asia, and Europe.

Through this long-term collaboration, Yokohama and Chelsea FC developed a robust partnership that benefited both parties. Chelsea FC became synonymous with elite performance, while Yokohama capitalized on the football club’s international reputation to promote its products, particularly focusing on high-performance tires and innovative automotive technology. The partnership concluded in 2022
