Barcelona, July 2025 – FC Barcelona has officially entered a four-year global partnership with the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), aimed at advancing the development of sports, youth training, and cultural exchange in Central Africa. This landmark agreement positions the club as a key driver of sports empowerment and social impact across the region.
As part of the initiative, FC Barcelona’s professional teams will feature the slogan “R.D. Congo – Coeur d’Afrique” (“Heart of Africa”) on the back of their training kits from the 2025/26 to the 2028/29 season. In return, the DRC becomes the club’s Official Empowerment Partner for Sports and Culture.

Through its international grassroots structure, Barça Academies will launch a wide-ranging program of sports camps and clinics in the DRC focused on five key disciplines: football, basketball, handball, futsal, and roller hockey. These activities will be designed for children, promoting values such as teamwork, inclusivity, discipline, and respect — core pillars of the Barça philosophy.
Additionally, the Barça Innovation Hub (BIHUB) will extend its coaching education programs to Congolese sports professionals. Areas of focus will include:
This exchange of knowledge aims to build a self-sustaining sports ecosystem within the DRC, helping local coaches and trainers implement the highest standards of development for future generations.
Beyond on-field collaboration, the partnership will also establish a permanent cultural exhibition — ‘The House of the DRC’ – at the future Spotify Camp Nou, part of the new Espai Barça development. The exhibition will celebrate Congolese identity through interactive displays, art, music, and sports traditions, offering fans a deeper understanding of the country’s heritage.
The initiative is expected to attract millions of visitors annually and serve as a cultural bridge between Central Africa and the global football community. It reinforces FC Barcelona’s ongoing commitment to using sport as a tool for global connection and social advancement.
FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta commented: “This partnership reflects the club’s values of solidarity, inclusion, and commitment to international development through sport. Together with the DRC, we hope to leave a lasting impact on the youth and sporting infrastructure of a country with enormous potential.”
The Government of the DRC also welcomed the agreement as a milestone in the country’s cultural diplomacy and international sporting profile.
