Manchester United has renewed its long-term partnership with STATSports, reinforcing its dedication to cutting-edge performance analytics and player monitoring across all teams. The extended agreement includes not only continued use of Apex 2.0 GPS trackers, but also the installation of fixed Local Positioning Systems (LPS) at both Carrington and Old Trafford, marking a major step in the club’s ongoing investment in high-performance technologies under new head coach Rúben Amorim.
The Apex 2.0 GPS trackers, developed by STATSports, are currently the only wearables certified at the highest level by FIFA. Manchester United will continue to use these devices across its men’s and women’s teams, from the Academy to the first team, to monitor real-time physical output, player load, and recovery metrics.
By collecting performance data during training and matches, the club’s performance staff can tailor training loads, reduce injury risks, and monitor individual development with precision.
A major upgrade in the renewed partnership includes the deployment of fixed infrastructure and Local Positioning Systems at key club facilities. These systems will provide enhanced accuracy in player tracking and allow seamless integration between training sessions, matchday data, and performance analysis.
Facilities set to benefit include the Carrington Training Centre, Old Trafford, and Leigh Sports Village (home to Manchester United Women), improving the consistency and depth of data collected across all club environments.
“We’re always striving to push the boundaries of performance at Manchester United,” said Ed Leng, Head of Physical Performance. “STATSports’ technology is a vital part of our toolkit. The expanded tracking systems across our facilities will enhance how we prepare, monitor, and protect our players on a daily basis.”
For STATSports, this renewal is a strong signal of Manchester United’s confidence in their technology as a central part of the club’s long-term performance strategy.
“Manchester United represents the gold standard in elite football,” said Sean O’Connor, Co-founder of STATSports. “By continuing to use our Apex 2.0 trackers and adopting LPS infrastructure, they’re demonstrating a deep commitment to data-led decision-making and sustainable player development.”
The company’s technology is already used by several of the world’s top clubs and national teams, and this deal strengthens its position as a leader in performance tracking solutions within elite football.
With the integration of wearable trackers and stadium-based systems, Manchester United is setting a new standard in sports performance monitoring. The move aligns with a growing trend among elite clubs to unify data ecosystems across training, medical, tactical, and analytics departments—maximizing the value of every performance session.
This partnership ensures every player, whether in the senior squad or the academy, is supported by a high-performance infrastructure designed to enhance output, reduce injury, and foster long-term growth.
