Dortmund, Germany – August 2025 – Borussia Dortmund has expanded its long-standing relationship with REWE Dortmund, a partnership that dates back to 2009. The regional supermarket cooperative is now the main partner and official shirt sponsor of the BVB Women’s team, reinforcing its commitment to the growth of women’s football in Germany.
The new sponsorship will debut during the BVB Women’s season opener against Juventus Women on August 10, with the REWE logo featured prominently on the front of the team’s shirts. The agreement spans two years and includes shirt branding across all competitions, along with stadium advertising at the Stadion Rote Erde.
REWE Dortmund has been an active supporter of fan initiatives, particularly through its REWE Family Block at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, offering family ticket packages and interactive matchday activities. The expansion into women’s football strengthens this strategy, combining community-focused engagement with the ambition to develop the women’s game in Dortmund.
As part of the partnership activation, REWE will host a family event featuring a friendly match between the BVB Women’s U17 team and a local REWE XI. This initiative aims to connect young players with supporters while promoting grassroots football.
Carsten Cramer, Managing Director of Borussia Dortmund, commented:
“We are delighted that our long-term partner REWE Dortmund is now increasing its involvement with the BVB Women’s team. Together, we are taking the next step in supporting women’s football with a strong local partner who shares our values and commitment to sports development.”
Hanno Rieger, CEO of REWE Dortmund, added:
“Four promotions in four years is a remarkable achievement. The BVB Women’s team has set a clear goal: to climb from the lowest league to the Bundesliga – an ambitious and authentic journey. We are proud to support them as main partner and shirt sponsor on their path to professional football. Our deep connection to Dortmund and Borussia makes this partnership a natural progression.”
REWE Dortmund employs approximately 2,200 people in the region, many of whom are Borussia Dortmund supporters. The partnership is built on strong local ties, with initiatives like producing the Borussia Dortmund stadium bratwurst in the city itself — a symbol of the club’s cultural connection to the community.
