Udine, September 2025 – Udinese Calcio and the University of Udine have signed a new memorandum of understanding on sustainability, further strengthening the collaboration between the football club and the city’s academic institution. The agreement, signed at the Bluenergy Stadium by Managing Director Franco Collavino and University Rector Roberto Pinton, underlines the shared commitment of both organisations to environmental and social responsibility.
The agreement focuses on reducing the carbon footprint of sporting events while improving the overall fan experience at the stadium. Key initiatives will include:
– Developing new technologies to enhance spectator well-being and safety.
– Promoting social inclusion and accessibility. – Increasing environmental sustainability by reducing the impact of matchday travel.
– Implementing innovative practices to make Udinese’s home matches more eco-friendly and community-focused.
“Signing this agreement is an important step that strengthens our tangible commitment to the sustainability of the area and enhances the partnership between Udinese Calcio and the University of Udine,” said Franco Collavino, Udinese Calcio Managing Director. “Together with the university, we aim to do more for the environment and our community, while also improving the overall experience of our fans before, during, and after each match.”
“Our University has a long-standing virtuous management model aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of the many activities it carries out,” added Rector Roberto Pinton. “Now, thanks to this agreement with Udinese Calcio, we can share our expertise and become an advanced sustainability role model for the region.”
This partnership highlights how sport and academia can collaborate to drive sustainable development, not only on matchdays but also in the broader community. For Udinese Calcio, sustainability has become one of the club’s founding values, and this collaboration confirms the intent to make environmental and social responsibility central to its future growth strategy.
